Pretending not to notice

David Harsanyi has a book out: The People Have Spoken (and They Are Wrong): The Case Against Democracy. The closing chapter says "don't vote".

Missing from the index: Maine, Moldbug, anything of the Dark Enlightenment. If Harsanyi has not read even John Derbyshire... then he is less well-read than any random commenter at National Review.

My first thought was to accuse Harsanyi of plagiarism, of stealing ideas without attribution. I admit, that might be overstating the case. But Harsanyi has got to know that these ideas have been out here, for years; and that Moldbug, Radish and similar anti-democratic researchers have dug up primary material making his case, going back centuries.

Harsanyi's book happens to support republicanism over Moldbug's despotism. But his book isn't titled "The Case For Republicanism", now, is it?

UPDATE 3/19: "Spengler" Goldman also channels Moldbug without a licence.
