Yeah, we lost
The people of Egypt, including the Christians therein, want to destroy us and they support al-Qaeda. They showed us this symbolically today, this Tuesday, "9/11". The leader of that nation is a moderate by Egyptian standards because he is merely Hamas.
So here's the State Department's response. Supposedly they work for the US taxpayer, but keep in mind they're the same guys who brought us Chairman Mao:
The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims â?? as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of other
Oh, but now here's Hillary Clinton saying... saying...
Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind
... saying... the same damn thing. (So I don't buy the Krauthammer comment that the Egyptian embassy staff had issued a "hostage statement". They actually believe this.)
And then there's this weaseling by another State employee, that the Black Flag the America-haters flew over our embassy was not what everyone knows it was, the Qaeda flag.
In short, the US agrees with the rioters; like we agreed with the moderate Mullahs against the Shah. More: we agree that what rioters say in Egypt, we should do at home. The First Amendment takes a back seat to shari`a in America.
(Yeah, Romney said something else. That's the statement the State Department would be ordered to put out if he were President. The net effect would be about the same.)
It does suck for the lower-level embassy staff, who are like the flags just furniture in this game.
