Heimdall is offensive to blacks

In the movie Thor, Heimdall is a black man, charged with the guard at the entrance to Valhalla. I see three options to explain this: He was born a god, he was created for the purpose, or he was a mortal.

If he was born a god, then he was born in a foreign pantheon; the Norse gods took him in (somehow) and indentured him to service. If he was created, then he was created in the form of a black - he is a wooden lawn jockey. If he had been mortal, then why did the gods post him at the bridge and not permit him to feast with the warriors?

I can't find anything here which impresses what remains of my Liberalism.
